1968 CORVETTE T-TOP COUPE (SURVIVOR CAR) 75% ORIGINAL PAINT CAR, SAME OWNER LAST 17 YEARS. ONLY DRIVEN 3000 MILES IN THAT TIME. THIS CAR IS LIKE IT WAS IN A TIME CAPSULE. IT IS A FINE EXAMPLE OF A MATCHING NUMBERS 44 YEAR OLD MOSTLY ORIGINAL STOCK CORVETTE. THE ORIGINAL PAINT IS THIN IN SOME AREAS AND THERE IS SOME PAINT CHECKING, BUT A "NO HIT" BODY AND COMPLETELY ORIGINAL INTERIOR AND DRIVELINE. THE ORIGINAL TANK STICKER IS STILL INTACT AND THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS ARE ON THE CAR: POSITRACTION REAR AXLE 3:08 AXLE RATIO, 4-SEASON AIR CONDITIONING, TURBO HYDRA-MATIC TRANSMISSION, F70x15x2 PLY WHITE STRIPE TIRES, AM/FM RADIO, TINTED GLASS, POWER BRAKES, TELESCOPIC STEERING WHEEL, POWER STEERING, SPEED WARNING INDICATOR. THE CAR HAS THE BASE 327 CUBIC INCH 300 HORESPOWER V8. THE ONLY EVER PAINTED AREA EVER ON THE CAR WERE BEHIND THE REAR TIRES ON BOTH SIDES DUE TO STONE CHIPPING AND AFTER THE LEFT AND RIGHT DOORS ON THE DOG LEGS (AGAIN FROM CHIPPING). RECENTLY REPLACED HAS BEEN THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY. THE TIRES ARE GOODYEAR EAGLE GT RADIALS THAT ARE 215/65/15 SIZE INSTALLED IN 1995 WHICH ARE NOT DRY ROTTED AT ALL, DUE TO STORAGE BEING IN A CLIMATE CONTROLLED BUILDING. THIS CAR DRIVES DOWN THE ROAD BETTER THAN IT DID IN 1968, MOSTLY DUE TO THE RADIAL TIRES ADDED TO IT. THE STEERING IS TIGHT AND THE CAR IS RATTLE FREE AND VERY SOLID. THE AIR CONDITIONING WORKS PROPERLY AND BLOWS ICE COLD! NOW FOR WHATS NOT ORIGINAL! YEARS AND YEARS AGO PRIOR TO THE LAST OWNER (BACK IN THE DAY) THE ORIGINAL INTAKE MANIFOLD AND QUADRA-JET CARB WHERE REPLACED BY A HOLLEY CARB AND EDELBROCK ALUMINUM INTAKE MANIFOLD, AS WELL AS THE VALVE COVERS WERE ALSO REPLACED BY MICKEY THOMPSON COVERS, AND THE AFTERMARKET AIR CLEANER, IS NOT ORIGINAL. THE ORIGINAL SMOG PUMP WAS REMOVED AND THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS WERE PLUGGED AND THE PARTS HAVE ALL BEEN LONG GONE. NATURALLY, THE EXHAUST SYSTEM HAS BEEN REPLACED A TIME OR (2) AND SO HAVE THE TIRES. THE INSTRUMENTS ALL WORK PROPERLY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CLOCK, WHICH INCLUDES THE TACH. IT DOES ALSO HAVE AN AFTERMARKET CORVETTE CASSETTE RADIO AND REAR SPEAKER CLUSTER ADDED AND I DON'T HAVE THE ORIGINAL RADIO. IF YOU WANTED TO PICK THIS CAR APART, IT WOULD BE FOR THE PAINT FINISH AFTER 44 YEARS, THAT WHY IT IS CALLED A SURVIVOR. THE PAINT HAS SOME CHECKING ON IT AND I HAVE TRIED TO SHOW THE WORSE AREAS IN MY PHOTOS, BUT FROM 5 FOOT AWAY IT LOOKS GREAT AND SHINES WELL, BUT IT IS THIN IN AREAS AND DOES HAVE THE CHECKING. MOSTLY ON THE T-TOPS, ROOF AND REAR DECK AREAS. ON THE OTHER HAND, THE INTERIOR (WHICH IS ALSO ORIGINAL INCLUDING CARPET) LOOKS LIKE A NEW CAR. IT NEEDS NOTHING DONE WHAT-SO-EVER. YOU MAY WANT TO REPLACE SOME OF THE WINDOW FELTS THOUGH. THE CHROME FOR THE MOST PART IS EXCEPTIONAL, EXCLUDING THE DOOR HANDLES WHICH ARE SHOWING SOME AGE AND WEAR, BUMPERS LOOK LIKE NEW FOR FINISH.! OVERALL FOR THE MONEY TODAY, YOU CAN'T BUY A GM CAR FROM THIS ERA FOR ANY LESS MONEY THAN THIS CORVETTE AND HAVE A NICER "ORIGINAL" CAR TO DRIVE AND SHOW. NOW FOR THE MUST INFORM THINGS ABOUT THE AUCTION! THIS CAR IS OWNED BY A DEALER WHOM TOOK IT IN ON TRADE ON A NEW TAHOE, THE PREVIOUS OWNER AFTER 17+ YEARS AND NOT DRIVING IT MUCH DECIDED THAT HE NEEDED A SUV THAT HE COULD HAUL HIS FAMILY AROUND RATHER THAN STARE AT HIS TOY SITTING IN THE GARAGE. 43,011 miles.
